Emerson's Essay

Emerson's essay on Self-Reliance is all about having to be your own self, and not try to be like others. His tone gives us a good strong feeling about what exactly it is he wants to to learn. I will sum all this up and explain to you how Emerson's thoughts and ideas can help me with my own life.
Emerson's main goals in the essay is to persuade us readers to be our own selves, and try not to be another version of someone else. He wants us to have our own voice, to be someone unique, and honest with ourselves, and with others. The way we are able to do all of this is by standing out, standing out as in be someone that people want to be, try to step up as the leader, and make people want you. You make yourself, and you can't be scared about others bringing you down with their hate. Emerson's is all about this, he really tries so hard to make you understand that we are all our own kind of beautiful.
This essay has a really strong tone and gives us a lot of examples to try to not be like others and to just be confident with yourself. Emerson says, "Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string.". What he is talking about here is that you should not be doubting yourself. You should not be self conscious about yourself. You do have a goal to complete in life and you should trust yourself in order to be able to accomplish your goals, do not doubt. If you were to have doubt in your life, your life will be miserable. You will always be putting yourself down at the worst times, you will not ever learn to be confident and you will eventually give up. This is why we need to build up self confidence and believe in ourselves.
Emerson and his thoughts really can help out a lot of people in the world if they just pay really close attention to his examples and thoroughly read his essay. I believe that i am able to use his thoughts to help me with my life, here is how. Me as a person, i was really not confident in how people looked at me before the essay reading. As i kept on reading the essay, i came to a conclusion that we can help others, we can also ask for help from others, and that is a good thing, but in the end of the day, we have to come back to ourselves because we are all we have when it comes to going to sleep. So you may be wondering, how does any of this help me with my real individual life? Well ever since the reading, I have been changing my mind in how i think. There will of course be those people that call you a fraud, or say that you are not true to your own word. But what those people do not understand is that we all learn more information and we all have the right to change the way we think and look at something. This comes back to the way we look at our-self, we change the way we look at our-self, some for the better, and some for the worst, hopefully the better.
The reading of "Self-Reliance" by Emerson was an amazing experience and i hope to read other essays and thoughts like this one. This essay really helped me realize to change, that change is not a bad thing, and to always believe in yourself. We are all we have in the end of the day. In conclusion, Emerson's thoughts were out of this world and i would have never been able to have faith in myself without him.
