I went to the search engine DuckDuckGo to research these short stories and the novel.
I went searching for a random link, and came across americanliterature.com then clicked on great short stories. One short story that caught my attention was The Haunted Mind By: Nathaniel Hawthorne. The second short story was The Last Fight in the Coliseum  By: Charlotte M. Yonge. Lastly, i searched up on DuckDuckGo Interesting Novels. The website i went to was lifehack.org. The novel i chose was Dark Places By: Gillian Flynn

EVERY ONE IS , DIFFERENT

What i had learned through out my high school years so far is, school is not for everybody. Everybody is interested in something, but not everybody is interested in the same thing. I feel like i know what i personally want, and what i don't want, or at least i think i do. I don't feel motivated to do some of my math work, but when it comes to my science, or history, i do my work because im interested in what goes on. Young Goodman Brown

These are my answers to the "Young Goodman Brown" questions. 1.  What do you think Hawthorne's purpose was for writing this story?        I think his purpose in writing this story was to explain to us that we all have different mind sets. Many of us have a different way of seeing the world, and also have different ways of expressing ourselves to the world. 2. Hawthorne states that Brown's wife is "aptly named" Faith.  After reading the story, do you agree?  Does Faith's name fit her personality?  Does Brown have true faith in her?    Yes, i agree and feel like Faith's name fits her personality. The writer did a good job in setting this character up with the story in how Brown had to leave his Faith behind.       Emerson's essay on Self-Reliance is all about having to be your own self, and not try to be like others. His tone gives us a good strong feeling about what exactly it is he wants to to learn. I will sum all this up and explain to you how Emerson's thoughts and ideas can help me with my own life.       Emerson's main goals in the essay is to persuade us readers to be our own selves, and try not to be another version of someone else. He wants us to have our own voice, to be someone unique, and honest with ourselves, and with others. The way we are able to do all of this is by standing out, standing out as in be someone that people want to be, try to step up as the leader, and make people want you.
